The Economic Development Committee focuses on increasing financial awareness to the residents of the St. Louis Metropolitan area.  During its many programs throughout the sorority year, this committee engages the community to identify African-American entrepreneurs in an effort to support Black Owned Businesses, increase financial responsibility and create sustaining wealth in our communities.  Check out some of our initiatives below:

  • Adopt-a-Business  This initiative has expanded to now feature a new local business each quarter!  The adopt-a-business of the quarter will have a "Delta Day" where all Deltas are asked to stop by and visit the business to purchase its products or services.  Also, the selected adopt-a-business will be featured on the chapter's social media pages to encourage its followers to support the business!

  • Financial Freedom Economic Development is also about growing financially as individuals.  In support of this, the committee hosts financial workshops on topics such as home ownership, credit building, investing and budgeting.

  • The Marketplace The committee is especially excited about its "Marketplace" initiative where twice a year local vendors can set up and present their products and services to our visitors and members.  The goal is for those vendors to gain exposure to new customers in order to grow their business!
